BASF Petronas Chemicals Sdn Bhd (BPC), a joint venture between BASF and Petronas Chemicals Group (PCG), plans to increase its production capacity of 2-Ethylhexanoic Acid (2-EHA) at its site in Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia, to meet growing demand in the Asia Pacific markets. BPC will be able to produce 60,000 tons/year 2-Ethylhexanoic Acid (2-EHA) after the expansion in 2024, compared to its current capacity of 30,000 tons/year. 2-Ethylhexanoic Acid (2-EHA) is a chemical intermediate used as a compound to produce synthetic lubricants. It is also used as oil additives and in functional fluids like plasticisers, stabilisers, catalysts, automotive coolants, metal salts for paint dryers, and other applications in various industries.
