Malaysia’s Top Glove, the biggest medical glovemaker globally, has made improvements to reverse an import ban placed on two of its subsidiaries since July, Reuters reported citing the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The ban was placed on signs of forced labor at the two production units. However, the CBP said Top Glove had put in efforts to rectify the issues.
Top Glove, which neither accepted nor denied the allegations, said no specific timetable on revoking the ban. The company also stated it would continue to work with the CBP in resolving the issues. In September, Top Glove submitted an audit report by an independent consultant to the agency. In October, Top Glove raised the amount of repayment for migrant workers for recruitment fees to MYR136 million ($32.7 million).
