American ocean liner Matson said on November 3 that the Trans-Pacific freight market would remain turbulent at least until the middle of 2022. The company said the Trans-Pacific trade lane would continue seeing elevated demand and clogged chokepoints for both marine and overland transportation. Matson posted an increase in container liftings on all trade lanes in the third quarter of 2021. Its China-to-US service handled 46,500 FEUs of containers, an increase of nearly 22% from a year earlier. Higher freight rates contributed to the 73% year-on-year jump in its revenue at $864 million for the reported quarter.
