On Tuesday, Canadian liquefied natural gas (LNG) developer Woodfibre LNG announced that it has granted an engineering contract to McDermott International Inc. for its LNG export plant’s construction.
McDermott will provide the engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction services for the project, which has seen some cancellations and delays so far this year despite record gas prices in Europe and Asia.
The project is estimated to cost CAD1.6-1.8 billion (USD1.26-1.42 billion) and the construction work is estimated to start in early 2022. The 2.1 million tpa plant could enter service in the third quarter of 2027.
