Methanex developed the third methanol plant in Geismar, Lousiana. Over 1,000 construction jobs generated by the $1.3 billion to $1.4 billion project in the next three years. The project began construction two months ago. The operation will be started in the second half of 2022. It will bring the total investment of more than $2.5 billion in Ascension Parish.
With an average annual salary of $80,000 plus benefits, 62 new direct jobs will be created by the G3 methanol plant in Geismar. For a total of 363 new permanent jobs in the Capital Region of Louisiana, the project estimated to result in 301 new indirect jobs.
To generate up to 1.8 million metric tons of methanol per year, the Louisiana project will leverage the most advanced production technology. One of the world’s largest methanol complexes will be represented by the three Methanex plants in Geismar.
