The acquisition of Anadarko’s operated interest in the Mozambique LNG project has been closed by Total. Previously, to acquire Anadarko’s assets in Mozambique, Algeria, Ghana and South Africa, a binding agreement with Occidental Petroleum Corporation reached by Total on May 3.
Regarding Anadarko’s assets in South Africa, Ghana, and Algeria, the closing operations are still ongoing.
Mozambique LNG is the first onshore LNG development in the country. The construction of a two-trains liquefaction plant and the development of the Golfinho and Atum fields are included in the project. The Mozambique LNG’s final investment decision was unveiled on June 18 this year. By 2024, the production is predicted to start.
Total is the second-largest private LNG player in the world with projects’ overall portfolio of around 40 Mt/y by 2020.
