AlwaysFree: Mura’s Hydro-PRT Technology to be Implemented in Japan

Author: SSESSMENTS

UK’s Mura will implement its Hydrothermal Plastic Recycling Technology (Hydro-PRT) in a new project in Japan.

Mura is working together with Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC) via licensing partner KBR to install Hydro-PRT at an existing MCC facility in the Japanese prefecture of Ibaraki. It will be constructed by the end of 2023 with an initial processing capacity of 20,000 tpa of plastic waste.

The technology will convert old plastics back into oils and chemicals that can be then used to make new polymers. It would prevent end-of-life waste from going to landfills or being incinerated for energy.
