A long-term contract for natural gas supplies has been signed by Greek energy company Mytilineos and Gazprom Export, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Russian gas giant Gazprom. The natural gas agreement will be valid from 2020 to 2030.
The deal between the two companies is proof of Russian gas demand in the Greek market. In the energy sector, this cooperation will help further strengthen the interaction between Russia and Greece. The volume of natural gas to be exported to Greece was not affirmed.
Besides enhancing the competitiveness of Mytilineos in the region's gas market, this long-term contract will also make a substantial contribution to maximizing the efficiency of its industrial and power assets, CEO of Mytilineos said.
Approximately 5 billion cubic meters was recorded as Greece's natural gas consumption in 2018. Based on short-term contracts, the cooperation between Mytilineos and Gazprom Export began in 2017.
