BASF SE, the largest chemical company in the world, commencing the piling work of its smart Verbund project in China. The facility will be located in Zhanjiang, Guangdong, China and initiating in November 2019. This $10 billion investment project will produce thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and other engineering plastics, catering to the needs of growing industries in southern China and Asia.
The start of construction launched in less than two years after the first official MOU and the first batch of production are scheduled to be available in the market by the end of 2022. BASF applied the highest standards of safety, also implementing smart and comprehensive manufacturing concept at the upcoming Verbund facilities. The project promises fruiting in records of 50,000 safe work hours without injury since initial commencing.
