- It is reported that the Russian side has repeatedly announced, including at the top level, its readiness to swiftly start the supply of gas to Germany via Nord Stream 2
According to TASS, Russia's state-owned news agency article published on October 18, 2022, it is still possible to supply gas to Germany via the undamaged line of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, though no respective signals have been received from Berlin yet, Russian Ambassador to the country Sergey Nechayev said in an interview with TASS.
"The Russian side has repeatedly announced, including at the top level, its readiness to swiftly start the supply of gas to Germany via Nord Stream 2, which in our view would fully meet the demand of business, industry and citizens of the country," the diplomat said.
"A respective possibility regarding the undamaged line of Nord Stream 2 still persists. However, the German side should take corresponding decisions for doing it, particularly on certification of the gas pipeline," he noted. "At this stage we have not received any signals on that," Nechayev added.
On September 27, Nord Stream AG reported unprecedented damage that occurred on the previous day at three threads of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines. Swedish seismologists registered two explosions recorded along the Nord Stream pipelines.
