Nord Stream 2 has begun filling one of its two pipelines with natural gas for tests.
According to the operating company, the first pipe will be filled gradually to build the needed inventory and pressure as a prerequisite for later technical tests. For the second pipe, the pre-commissioning steps are commencing.
Previously on Monday, the Danish Energy Agency announced the permit for the first pipeline to be put into operations. For the second one, some conditions remained before it could begin operation.
Nord Stream 2 is still awaiting approval from Germany’s energy regulator to transport its gas in Germany.
