The Duesseldorf Higher Regional Court ruled on Wednesday that The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is subject to European Union rules that require the pipeline owners to be different from the suppliers of gas flowing through them to ensure fair competition. The ruling follows a challenge by Nord Stream 2 operators last year, who asked for an exemption, arguing that the rule is discriminatory. Analysts said the ruling means Gazprom would have to auction pipeline capacity, which could further delay deliveries.
