Nova Chemicals and Charter Next Generation (CNG) have successfully cooperated on the large-scale use of post-consumer resin (PCR) for flexible film applications to create a circular economy for plastic materials. Under the partnership, CNG purchased recycled, linear low-density polyethylene (rLLDPE) from Nova, which will be used in films such as industrial films, heavy-duty sacks, e-commerce packaging, and collation shrink that are sold as part of the GreenArrow platform.
Nova’s recent research showed the majority of consumers in all age demographics prefer packaging that contains PCR. Nova CEO Luis Sierra said the use of PCR could help eliminate plastic waste. Sierra said Nova’s partnership with CNG marked a milestone in delivering value to customers. CNG CEO Kathy Bolhous said the company would work together with Nova to meet the demand for PCR-based products as part of its efforts to be a leader in sustainable film solutions.
