Russian independent gas producer Novatek is expecting enough resources from newly acquired licenses to supply a third liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility, according to the company’s CEO Leonid Mikhelson.
Novatek already operates Yamal LNG plant with a capacity of 16.5 million tons/year. It also plans to start Arctic LNG 2 project with a capacity of 20 million tons/year in 2023. Novatek is seeking to construct more LNG facilities as it aims at matching Qatar’s production level.
Mikhelson added that the company would have the necessary resources from the three gas production licenses on the Gydan peninsula. The resources will be enough to supply another LNG project with capacity on par with that of Arctic LNG 2.
