AlwaysFree: Orenburgneft’s Green Investments Exceed 10 Billion Roubles In Five Years

Author: SSESSMENTS

According to the company’s website press release on February 10, 2023, Orenburgneft (an enterprise of Rosneft oil production complex) has allocated more than 10 billion roubles from 2018 to 2022 to implement environment-oriented and environmental remediation measures. It is a priority for Orenburgneft to be eco-friendly in its operations and minimise its impact on the environment. The enterprise systematically implements programmes to improve pipeline reliability, rational use of APG, land reclamation, energy efficiency, water and biodiversity conservation, and provides environmental monitoring.

Orenburgneft’s pipeline network is more than 5,800 km long. Infrastructure condition monitoring is ensured, among other things, through a programme of diagnostics and industrial safety reviews of the pipeline fleet. The enterprise has spent more than 3 billion roubles on pipeline reliability improvement measures in five years, with a total of 475 km of pipelines repaired and replaced during the reporting period.

Orenburgneft ensures permanent control of the environmental situation in the areas of oil production and adjacent territories: air, soil, ground and surface water conditions are monitored. For example, the enterprise’s employees have carried out more than 5,800 soil analyses.

Orenburgneft disposes of industrial waste using modern technology. The recycled products are reintegrated back into the production process.

Due to the measures of the energy saving programme, the company saved more than 390 million kWh between 2018 and 2022 and received an economic benefit of 1.3 billion roubles.

Between 2018 and 2022, Orenburgneft specialists released more than 425,000 fry of valuable fish species – carp, sterlet and silver carp – into the basins of the Volga and Ural rivers. In addition, the enterprise’s employees take an active part in environmental projects and campaigns for greening and cleaning areas, volunteers organise flash mobs and bike rallies, and give environmental lessons to the youth. The oil workers have made it a tradition to collect waste paper, batteries and plastic lids.
