AlwaysFree: Petrobras to Significantly Raise Rio’s LNG Import Capacity

Author: SSESSMENTS

Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras) said that its plan to significantly raise Rio de Janeiro’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) import capacity by 50% is supported by successful tests.

The state-run firm is now in the process of obtaining government permits to expand the Guanabara bay terminal’s capacity to 30 mcum/d from the current 20 mcum/d. Brazil is taking advantage of low international LNG prices by expanding its facilities.

The tests completed by the company were part of the requirements by Rio’s environmental agency Inea and Brazil’s national oil regulator ANP.

Petrobras did not specify the timing for the conclusion of the licensing process.
