PetroChina expects to start construction on its 3 million t/yr Jieyang LNG project in south China's Guangdong province in October with completion targeted for December 2023.
The terminal will be located in the Dananhai petrochemical industrial park in Jieyang city. It will have four 200,000m³ storage tanks, as well as other facilities that include high- and low-pressure delivery pumps, gasifiers and boil-off gas compressors. The second stage of expansion is expected to take the terminal's import capacity to 6.5 million t/yr.
The terminal will also have a loading capacity of 500,000 t/yr, a berth capable of receiving LNG ships of up to 266,000m³ in capacity and a high-pressure gas transmission capacity of 24.75 million m³/d and a low-pressure capacity of 5.4 million m³/d.
Another three other receiving terminals are already under construction in Guangdong. The new receiving terminals in Guangdong are part of the municipal government's plan to promote gas use and meet rising demand in the province, as well as combat air pollution.
PetroChina currently operates four out of a total of 22 receiving terminals in China, with the 6.5 million t/yr Rudong, 6 million t/yr Dalian, 6.5 million t/yr Tangshan and 1.3 million t/yr Hainan. CNOOC operates 10 of the remaining 18 terminals, while Sinopec operates three terminals and Guanghui, Jovo, ENN, Shenzhen Gas and Shenergy each operate one.
