AlwaysFree: Petronas, Eneos Studying Hydrogen Potentials

Author: SSESSMENTS

Malaysian national energy company Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) is working together with Japan’s Eneos to study hydrogen potentials and develop supply chains.

Under the memorandum of understanding (MOU), the partnership between the two companies will be built for thirty years.

The two will explore low-carbon hydrogen production from Petronas’ petrochemical facilities and, in the future, green hydrogen produced by renewable energy.

They will also commence a technical-commercial joint-study to develop a competitive, clean hydrogen supply chain between Malaysia and Japan.

The study will include hydrogen production and its transportation in methylcyclohexane form.

The MOU will drive the two partners to apply for funding from the Japanese government’s Green Innovation Fund.
