Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaport Authority, Polskie LNG, Polish gas transmission system operator Gaz-System SA’s wholly-owned affiliate, have signed agreements with TGE Gas Engineering GMBH and Porr SA for a massive expansion of 3.3 million tons/year Lech Kaczyński LNG terminal to an 8.8 million ton/year terminal. The signed agreements cover system design, permitting, construction, and commissioning project expected to be complete by end-2023. The value of the signed agreements totals roughly PLN 1.9 billion ($480 million)
Polskie LNG will oversee the construction of a third 160,000-cubic meter LNG tank and also supervised second berth. Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaport Authority will be responsible for the hydro-technical part of the berth, the associated transmission pipe rack hydro-technical infrastructure, and complete mooring infrastructure. The expansion will also include the installation of rail transhipment capability.
Polskie LNG and Polish-state oil and gas company PGNiG also signed a gas supply agreement for volumes associated with the expansion of the terminal on May 29, 2020. Gaz-System is also developing Gas Interconnection Poland-Lithuania, connecting the two countries transmission systems (completion in 2021); developing the Baltic Pipe project, bringing gas from Norway to Poland and Denmark (completion in 2022); and the North-South Gas Corridor, linking LNG terminals in Poland and Croatia (2022).
