On Tuesday, Qatar Petroleum (QP) and Britain’s National Grid said in separate statements that QP has secured storage and redelivery capacity at the UK’s Grain liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal for 25 years starting mid-2025.
Qatar Petroleum’s Qatar Terminal Limited (QTL) and National Grid’s Grain LNG signed the deal following the conclusion of an open season process launched by National Grid in November 2019.
QP’s affiliate will subscribe to the equivalent of up to 7.2 million tpa of the terminal’s future throughput capacity.
Currently, the Grain terminal at the Isle of Grain in Kent has gas storing and delivering capacities to 25% of UK gas demand.
