Qatar Petroleum (QP) has started production of ultra-low-sulfur diesel (ULSD) with a maximum sulfur content of 10 ppm at its 37,000-bpd refinery in Mesaieed Industrial City (MIC). The facility began supplying Euro 5-compliant ULSD to the domestic transportation market on September 27. An upgrade at the facility’s diesel hydrotreating units enables QP to produce the fuel. According to Qatar’s energy minister and QP President Saad Sherida Al-Kaabim, the ULSD production at MIC refinery is an important step for the company’s downstream business.
