According to TASS, Russia's state-owned news agency article published on October 19, 2022, the trade turnover between Georgia and Russia for 9 months of 2022 amounted to more than $1.7 bln, which is 50% more than the same period in 2021, according to the National Statistical Service of Georgia.
Russia is second Georgia's largest trading partners. In January-September, its share in the volume of Georgia's foreign trade amounted to 12.6%. In January-September, Georgia exported to Russia more than 44,000 tons of wines for over $109 mln, more than 54,000 tons of ferroalloys for over $105 mln, more than 3,200 cars for more than $45.7 mln, more than 7,600 tons of alcoholic beverages for more than $40 mln, over 63,000 tons of mineral and fresh water for about $35 mln.
In turn, Russia supplied Georgia with over 434,000 tons of oil and oil products for over $430 mln, over 130,000 tons of wheat or wheat-rye flour for over $49 mln, over 87,000 tons of coke and semi-coke for more than $47 mln, more than 172,000 tons of oil gases and hydrocarbons for more than $46 mln, more than 96,000 tons of wheat and meslin for more than $35 mln.
The first place among Georgia’s trading partners in January-September of this year was taken by Turkey, the trade turnover with which exceeded $2 billion, which is 37% more than in 2021. The third place was taken by China, the trade turnover with this country exceeded $1.4 billion (30% annual growth).
The total foreign trade turnover of Georgia for the first nine months of this year amounted to almost $14 bln, which is 35.3% higher than in 2021. Exports amounted to more than $4 bln, with annual growth of 37.4%, imports - to more than $9.5 bln, annual growth of 34.4%. The negative balance of foreign trade in January-September 2022 reached over $5.4 bln, or 39.8% of the total trade turnover.
