AlwaysFree: SABIC, Plastic Energy to Start Construction on Netherland’s Plastic Recycling Facility

Author: SSESSMENTS

Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) and UK’s Plastic Energy Ltd. will start construction of their plastic recycling facility in Geleen, the Netherlands.

The project will produce the commercial unit’s flagship certified circular polymers, part of the TRUCIRCLE portfolio. The portfolio is made from the upcycling of mixed and used plastic.

The project will be realized under a 50-50 joint venture (JV) namely SPEAR (SABIC Plastic Energy Advanced Recycling BV). It is being executed with a Top Sector Energy Subsidy from the Ministry of Economic Affairs in the Netherlands.

The project is scheduled to come online in the second half of 2022. It will enable SABIC to significantly upscale the production of certified circular polymers.
