AlwaysFree: Sabine Pass Restart Boosts US LNG Feedgas Demand To 3-Month High

Author: SSESSMENTS

With Cheniere Energy restarting its Sabine Pass LNG terminal in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, feedgas flows to the six major US LNG export terminals surged to a three-month high as of September 9, an industry survey showed. According to the survey, those terminals received approximately 6.7 Bcfd of natural gas on Wednesday, the highest level since May 11.

At the same time, Sempra Energy has yet to restart its Cameron LNG, in Hackberry south of Lake Charles, after Category 4 Hurricane Laura hit the area in late August. Sabine Pass and Cameron LNG terminals have a total of eight liquefaction trains with a combined capacity of more than 40 million tons/year of LNG.

Sempra is still waiting for power restoration before restarting the Cameron LNG plants. Power provider Entergy previously reported extensive damage at its distribution lines and expected outages in the area to last for several weeks. On the other hand, the Sabine Pass LNG terminal generates its power on-site, allowing for a quick restart. Both facilities, however, report no substantial damages.
