According to Zawya article published on March 23, 2023, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) has commenced commercial operations at its 2600,000 tonnes/year polycarbonate production facility in China, the company said in a statement to the Saudi stock exchange.
The $1.7 billion project was developed by Sinopec SABIC Tianjin Petrochemical Company (SSTPC), a joint venture between SABIC and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec). The JV had commissioned one million tonnes/year capacity ethylene production facility in January 2010.
In May 2022, SABIC had started pre-commissioning activities at the polycarbonate plant.
