Seven of nine refineries in Louisiana that ceased operations ahead of Hurricane Ida have restarted or were restarting on Friday, Reuters reported. Valero Energy was restarting its Meraux refinery along the Mississippi River on Friday while preparing to bring back operations at its St. Charles refinery. Royal Dutch Shell expects to start restarting activity at its Norco refinery in one to two weeks due to a limited power supply.
PBF Energy has restarted some units at its Chalmette refinery but has not resumed production. Placid Refining and Delek restarted its respective 75,000 bpd Port Allen refinery and 80,000 bpd Krotz Springs plant early last week. Louisiana’s largest refineries, Marathon Petroleum’s 578,000 bpd Garyville and Exxon’s 520,000 bpd Baton Rouge plant, returned to operation last week.
On the other hand, Phillips 66’s 255,600 bpd Alliance plant in Belle Chasse was the hardest hit refining facility. The plant is expected to be under repairs for months before returning to normal operations.
