On Monday, China’s Sinochem Group said that its Quanzhou petrochemical expansion project in Fujian province will start the trial operations late in August, instead of the original target of between May and June.
The CNY32.5 billion (USD4.64 billion) project is adding 60,000 bpd of crude processing capacity to the existed 240,000 bpd refinery, along with 1 mtpa of ethylene and 800,000 tpa of aromatic capacity.
The expansion project started in September 2018 and in late June, Sinopec said that the work would likely be delayed by up to six months, citing a tight schedule, overwhelming tasks and delays of drawings as well as arrivals of equipment as the factors behind the postponement.
