On Monday, some sources familiar with plant operations said that next week, LyondellBasell Industries would restart the gasoline-producing fluidic catalytic cracker (FCC) at its 263,776 bpd Houston refinery.
The 90,000 bpd FCC will complete the repair this week and restart the unit in the next after the FCC was closed by the fire on February 16. The incident then led to a discovery of several cracks in the reactor of the unit.
Previously, the sources informed Reuters that the unit was planned to be shut until end-April. However, since that time, the company has focused on remaining contract workers in the refinery on the FCC work.
Lyondell spokeswoman Chevalier Gray declined to comment.
