Refineries in Texas Gulf Coast plan to maintain regular operations despite Tropical Storm Beta as it is forecast to weaken after making landfall on Tuesday, sources familiar with plant operations said. Motiva Enterprises’ 607,000-bpd refinery in Port Arthur, Texas, will keep regular operation this week after being shut due to Hurricane Laura in late August.
Valero Energy’s 335,000-bpd and Total’s 225,500-bpd refineries in Port Arthur also plan to maintain operations after Laura shutdown. Total said it had initiated a weather preparation plan and asked workers to be ready for flooding caused by Beta. Marathon will also keep regular operation at its 585,000-bpd refinery in Galveston, Texas City.
Other refineries in Texas that also plan regular operation include Phillips 66’s 265,000-bpd refinery in Sweeny, LyondellBasell’s Houston refinery, Chevron’s Pasadena refinery, Shell’s Deer Park refinery, and Exxon’s Baytown refinery.
