AlwaysFree: The South Pars Phase 13 Platforms Is Ready To Go Operational

Author: SSESSMENTS

The South Pars gas fields’s gas transmission pipelines field 13A and 13C platforms is reported ready to transmit gas to the coast refinery from the platforms.  The portal of Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC), company in charge of developing the Persian Gulf’s giant field reported that two 32-inch pipelines with 100 kilometers in length are ready to transfer gas from the above platforms to be processed onshore at the phase 13 dedicated refinery.

Phase 13 operator, Payam Moatamed, disclosed that the platforms were installed in February, and after that the connecting project from the platform to the pipelines promptly started. He also added that the 13B and 13D pipelines, another two platforms on the same phase, were installed February last year.  All stages of this project including installation engineering, pipe coating, seawater piping, and lines commissioning have been done by experts and engineers from Iran. As the need to group work is essential for the operations, they managed to complete the project by watching social distance and maintaining the health of their workforce.

The South Pars Phase 13 gas field is designed to produce 56 mcm of natural gas, 400 tons of sulfur and 75,000 barrels of gas condensate per day, aside from the target of one million tons of propane, ethane and butane each per year. The South Pars field is divided into 24 development phases along this first stage, which is mostly fully operational at the moment.

This massive offshore field shared with Qatar ranged around 9,700 square kilometers, which 3,700 square kilometers of this area called the South Pars, located in Iranian water territory in the Gulf of Persia. Another 6,000 square kilometers  located in Qatar’s territory is called the North Dome. The whole field was estimated to contain approximately 18 billion barrels of condensate and around 8% of the world’s reserve.
