On Sunday, the third Iranian tanker, Faxon, arrived at the Guaraguao port in Venezuela with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro promised to normalize fuel supply in the country by intensifying economic relations with Iran this year amid the sanctions from the US on its oil sector.
Faxon is the last Iranian tankers out of three started to arrive in Venezuela two weeks ago. The three tankers brought 820,000 barrels of fuel to the country.
The Guaraguao fuel port is connected to the Puerto La Cruz refinery and the arrival of the Iranian oil there supports the country’s plan to normalize and restart the gasoline distribution situation which will start on October 5.
Previously, Maduro announced a new rationing plan set to start Monday to distribute fuel according to motorists’ license plate numbers.
In the past weeks, two Venezuelan refineries have been producing roughly 50,000 bpd of gasoline, after the country’s 1.3 million bpd Petroleos de Venezuela S.A (PDVSA) refining network has collapsed.
