On Wednesday, South African lender FirstRand’s local unit, FNB Mozambique said that French Total S.A. has secured USD15.8 billion in funding for its liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in northern Mozambique.
FNB Mozambique said that the financing contracts were signed on Friday but Total has not confirmed the signing. A consortium of 20 banking institutions provided the fund and among those 20, FirstRand’s corporate and investment banking unit, Rand Merchant Bank (RMB) is a part of it.
Total denied requests to comment.
