Turkish Energy Minister Fatih Dönmez said that the country would produce the natural gas recently found in the Black Sea on its own, with a much more economical cost than importing.
The works in the Sakarya Gas Field, which holds 320 bcm of natural gas or more, are underway now and more precise figures will be announced in mid-October. The gas would be integrated into the system by 2023.
Dönmez reiterated that Turkey aims to cut its energy dependency on imports to support a strong economy.
