AlwaysFree: US Energy Firms Began Restarts Following Damages Calculation

On Thursday, US energy firms have begun the restarting the idle Gulf of Mexico operations and clearing debris from Hurricane Sally.

Personnel has returned to at least 30 offshore oil and gas platforms owned by some companies such as Equinor, Chevron Corp., and Murphy Oil Corp.

Phillips 66’s 255,600-bpd Alliance, Louisiana, oil refinery would keep processing halted as it was advancing planned maintenance at the facility. Royal Dutch Shell’s Mobile, Alabama, chemical plant and refinery reported no serious damage from an initial survey. Chevron’s Pascagoula, Mississippi, oil refinery operated normally through the storm. Shell will keep the crude distillation unit, alkylation unit, and reformer shut for at least a week at its 227,400-bpd Norco, Louisiana, refinery for short-term maintenance work

The Louisiana Offshore Oil Port has reopened its marine terminal.

On the same day, according to the US Interior Department, the hurricane shut 31% of offshore Gulf of Mexico crude oil production or 567,770 bpd and 24% of natural gas, or 670 mmcfd. Roughly 1.4 million bpd of the country’s refining capacity from six refineries were offline that day.
