AlwaysFree: US Gulf Output Continue Resuming Production After Hurricane

Author: SSESSMENTS

The US Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) said that on Monday, energy firms in the US Gulf of Mexico ramped up the restoration of oil and natural gas production three days after Hurricane Delta made landfall in the region.

That day, offshore crude oil production being shut fell to 69.4% or 1.28 million bpd compared to 01% or 1.68 million barrels on Sunday. Roughly 47% or 1.28 bcfd of offshore natural gas output in the region remained shut by midday yesterday, from the closed 62% on the previous day.

Between October 6 and 12, a total of 10.1 million barrels of crude output and 9.6 bcf of natural gas output from the Gulf were shut on the back of the hurricane.

Energy companies are speeding the recovery to their output in the Gulf.

On Monday, Total SA had completed the restarting process for the units in its 225,500 bpd refinery in Port Arthur, Texas, following its Friday night power outage due to Delta.

Phillips 66, on the other hand, did not get the power supply on its Lake Charles, Louisiana, manufacturing complex. However, its 260,000 bpd refinery has not yet be opened since August 25 on the back of the extensive damage to the electrical power infrastructure caused by Hurricane Laura. The firm plans to begin restarting the refinery by the end of this week.

On Monday, the Louisiana Offshore Oil (LOOP) said that it has resumed offloading tankers at its terminal in the Gulf.

Royal Dutch Shell Plc., Chevron Corp., and BP Plc. have returned workers to offshore platforms. They have also begun to restart production as pipelines to carry crude onshore come back.
