Last week, the US drilling count was unchanged weekly, according to data from Baker Hughes.
For the week ended August 28, the country’s drilling count stayed at 254, down by 650 year-on-year but unchanged from the previous week. There were no changes in the number of rigs drilling offshore, on land, and inland waters, at 13, 240, and 1 respectively.
The rig count for US-directed oil dropped by 3 week-on-week to 180 units, compared with 742 units in the corresponding time last year. Gas-targeting rigs rose by 3 units to 72, down by 90 units year-on-year.
Louisiana was the only major energy state to see an increase, by 2 units to 34 working rigs. Texas and New Mexico each dropped a single rig to reach 107 and 46 rigs running, respectively. Ten states proceeded with no change this week.
Meanwhile, Canada’s rig count slipped by 2 rigs on a weekly basis at 54 rigs with 96 units lesser than the same period of 2019. Oil-directed rigs stood at 19 units, down by one week-on-week. Gas-directed rigs also fell by 1 to 35 units.
