The first freight train of the new silk road arrived in Liege, Belgium, on Friday, marking the new connection between Europe and China. The train brought 82 TEUs of cargo from eastern China's Yiwu.
The new railroad is an integrated 826-kilometer rail link connecting Europe to China via Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan routes. The railroad cut the Europe-China journey by at least one to two days. It is part of China's Belt and Road Initiative.
