A Malaysian trader informed SSESSMENTS.COM that August shipment offers for ethylene-based PVC of various origins were adjusted. Compared to July shipment, offers for ethylene-based PVC from South Korea increased between $20-30/ton. For the regional cargoes, offers from the leading Indonesian PVC producer and a Thai PVC producer were adjusted up by a similar amount, by $30/ton compared to the same period. According to the trader, offers from the Thai producer are firm as the producer has limited allocation. Meanwhile, ethylene-based PVC cargoes of China origin stand at such a high level, at $890/ton on LC at sight, CIF Malaysia main port basis. From the trader’s end, no offers were available to the local market yet. The trader plans to announce offers this week.
The trader mentioned to SSESSMENTS.COM that for August shipment, the company limits purchasing volume. “No need to purchase more volume this time since PVC prices next month might drop slightly or remain stable,” the trader said. The trader added further that with the drops in ethylene prices, it is reasonable that market players expect ethylene-based PVC offers to decrease. However, limited PVC supply might prevent the prices from falling. Hence, the trader will wait and monitor market movements.
