Brazil’s imports of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) products increased in January, according to data from the Ministry of Development and Foreign Trade obtained by SSESSMENTS.COM. The data showed that Brazil imported 37,661 tons of PVC products last month, rising by 22.3% from a year earlier.
On a value basis, Brazil’s PVC imports in January reached $34.37 million FOB, compared to $28.01 million FOB in January 2019. In January, Colombia was Brazil’s largest PVC supplier with 26,361 tons, followed by Taiwan (2,541 tons), and Germany (1,753 tons).
Imports of PVC in suspension and its primary forms increased 22.1% year-on-year to 33,761 tons last month, at a value of $29.74 million FOB. Colombia was Brazil’s leading supplier of PVC in these forms with 24,970 tons, followed by Taiwan (2,541 tons) and the US (1,738 tons).
Imports of PVC in emulsion and its primary forms increased 24.5% year-on-year to 3,776 tons in January, at a value of $4.45 million FOB. The largest supplier of PVC in these forms was Colombia with 1,391 tons, followed by Germany (1,210 tons) and Sweden (674 tons).
Imports of other PVC in its primary forms increased 14.2% year-on-year to 1,123 tons, at a value of $180,865 FOB. Hong Kong was the lead exporter of PVC in these forms to Brazil with 550 tons, followed by China (259 tons) and Germany (235 tons).
