India’s Chemplast Sanmar has restarted production at its PVC plant located in Mettur Dam near Salem in Tamil Nadu on April 14, a producer source told SSESSMENTS.COM. The 300,000 tons/year PVC plant was shut on March 26 following the nationwide lockdown in India. Currently, the plant is running at 50-60% from the normal capacity since producer’s sales are only 20-30% from normal.
Further added by the source to SSESSMENTS.COM, other local producers’ PVC plants, such as DCM Shriram, DCW Limited, and Finolex are heard still shut, while Reliance Industries Limited is still keeping one of their PVC lines running.
