A source with knowledge of the matter informed SSESSMENTS.COM that Indonesia’s Styrindo Monomer (SMI) has shut its SM unit. As stated, the company brought SM unit off-stream due to a technical issue since April 14, 2020. Located in Merak, Indonesia, the restart of the SM unit with a capacity of 100,000 tons/year cannot be determined yet. Meanwhile, another SM unit with a capacity of 220,000 tons/year is still running normally.
