A distributor based in China informed SSESSMENTS.COM that a Japanese PVC producer has skipped offering cargoes to the country for two months in a row. As reported, the producer decided to skip offering to China for May shipment after previously also ceased offering for April shipment. The upcoming maintenance shutdown at the producer’s PVC plant coupled with the disruption in production activities amid Japan’s nationwide state of emergency from April 7 to May 6 cited as the main reasons behind the producer’s decision.
Further added by the distributor to SSESSMENTS.COM, some of the company’s customers are considering to take cargoes from another Japanese PVC producer, which is currently offering at $670/ton on LC at sight, CIF China Main Port basis. Meanwhile, some others decided to take cargoes from other PVC suppliers via other distributors.
