The leading Philippines PVC producer’s offers surfaced in Vietnam market, a converter told SSESSMENTS.COM. As reported, the Vietnamese converter received import offers from the leading Philippines PVC producer this week, available at $820/ton on LC at sight, CIF Vietnam Main Port basis. No price comparison available since the converter did not receive the offers last month. The converter is planning to take cargoes from the Philippines producer, but there is no final confirmation from the producer so far.
Meanwhile, the converter has closed deals for ethylene-based PVC cargoes from a Japanese producer. Import PVC offers from the producer stand at $830/ton on LC 90 days, increased by $50/ton from last month. The Japanese producer also cited their allocation for the Vietnam market is limited this month. For cargoes from the leading Taiwanese PVC producer, the converter purchased some volume at $790/ton on LC at sight. All on CIF Vietnam Main Port basis.
Further added, the converter is not interested in taking materials from a US PVC producer, which is available at $820/ton on LC 180 days because the cargoes are dutiable. The converter shared their thought to SSESSMENTS.COM that indeed, the company cannot accept an increase in import offers. However, the converter does not have room to manoeuvre because of production needs to be covered. As a result of circumstances, the converter will then make adjustments on end-product prices.
