LyondellBasell said that it had been selected to provide its proprietary Spheripol process technology for a new polypropylene (PP) plant in Quanzhou, China. As SSESSMENTS.COM noted, the new 450,000 tons/year plant is owned by Quanzhou Grand Pacific Chemical Co. Ltd. (QGPC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Taiwan’s Grand Pacific Petrochemical Corp. (GPPC).
Neil Nadalin, the Director of Licensing at LyondellBasell, claimed that the Spheripol technology is well established in the Asian market and can yield PP with excellent product properties while maintaining outstanding plant operability and lower operating cost. Pin-Cheng Yang, the Chairman of GPPC and QGPC, stated the technology could help the company to deliver PP products to customers competitively.
