A Malaysian producer informed SSESSMENTS.COM that current firm import PE and PP prices in Asia market are supported by supply issues and limited offers. According to the producer, despite the firm import PE offers in China, HDPE Film offers above $850/ton-level is not acceptable as HDPE Film prices in the domestic market are available at a lower level. While for LDPE Film, as market talks have it that currently, LDPE Film supply in China market is limited as Qatari producers are no longer offering these materials to the country.
While in Southeast Asia, import PE offers above $900/ton became more apparent. SSESSMENTS.COM’s pricing database showed that this week, offers for Middle Eastern LLDPE Film C4 cargoes captured as high as $920/ton. For regional cargoes, import offers for HDPE Film and LLDPE Film C4 stood at $940-950/ton and $930/ton, respectively. All on LC at sight, CIF Southeast Asia Main Port basis. As for demand, the producer opined that PE demand in the region is quite healthy even though it could not be categorized as strong yet. While for PP, fresh import PP offers were scarce this week, however, as stated by the producer, current PP demand is strong. For the outlook, considering the uptrend in feedstock prices, PE and PP prices expected to remain firm onward.
