As told to SSESSMENTS.COM, a Malaysian HIPS producer decided to cease offering to the open market until year-end. As reported by a producer source, the company would not give offers for HIPS Injection to the open market for the rest of the year since they need to fulfil demand from the contract-based customers while building stocks ahead of the upcoming maintenance shutdown, which is scheduled to start at the end of October 2020. In December, the maintenance at HIPS plant is expected to be completed, yet the producer would only be able to fulfil demand from non-contract customers by February 2021.
Demand-wise, the producer sees a higher-than-expected improvement in demand from home appliance manufacturers. Likewise, the automotive sector in Malaysia has also started to show a slight improvement. As revealed to SSESSMENTS.COM, the producer received a lot of inquiries from non-contract customers but could not fulfil it due to no allocation.
