Comments by market players on LLDPE Film C4 market as follows:
A trader based in Ningbo contacted by SSESSMENTS.COM on March 30 stated, “At the moment, import LLDPE Film C4 prices have broken $700/ton-level. For non-dutiable Indonesian cargoes, the deals might be concluded at $670/ton on LC at sight, CIF China main port basis. As such, it will affect pricing from other producers and traders this week.”
A global trading house revealed the latest import PE prices from a Thai PE producer. “A Thai PE producer has announced offers for May shipment. Offers for LLDPE Film C4 surfaced with a reduction of $40/ton as compared to last week’s level. However, as compared to the initial offers for April shipment, offers for LLDPE Film C4 recorded a reduction of $75/ton. Despite the price reduction, offers for Thai cargoes are still unattractive amidst the current market situation.”
“Import LLDPE Film C4 prices of Thailand origin to China market decreased by $45/ton as compared to last week’s level. However, our customers stated that the offers are too high and have no interest to procure. As such, we have not concluded any deals so far,” a Chinese trader stated.
“Offers for LLDPE Film C4 of Saudi origin have decreased between $20-30/ton as compared to last week’s level. For US cargoes, at the moment, offers for LLDPE Film C4 are available at $680/ton on LC at sight, CIF China main port basis. However, we are not interested to buy due to the long lead time that takes around two months. In terms of demand, sales for PE in the local market is quite good as most converters already run between 60-70%. Moreover, the government will stimulate the local business by supporting or giving compensation for businesses affected by the Coronavirus outbreak. In this case, we can expect that China PE market will be more active by next week,” said a local trader to SSESSMENTS.COM.
The leading Saudi polyolefins producer informed, “Last week, we were offering LLDPE Film C4 at $730/ton on LC at sight, CIF China main port basis. However, the offers were deemed too high and buyers gave a cold response. This week, we are willing to sell at $670/ton with the same payment and shipment terms, and even provide a room for negotiation up to $20/ton lower than the initial offer level. However, buyers’ buy idea is only at $600/ton on LC at sight, CIF China main port basis. We think that if the Coronavirus outbreak in other countries cannot be controlled in the near term, it is possible to see LLDPE Film C4 at $600/ton-level.”
