Comments by market players on HDPE Film as follows:
A converter in the Philippines disclosed the latest import PE offers for June shipment from a Malaysian polyolefins producer, “Offers for Malaysian HDPE Film cargoes for June shipment surfaced with an increment of $20/ton as compared to May shipment. The latest offers stand at $780/ton on LC at sight, CIF Philippines main port basis.”
A trader in Vietnam stated similar information to SSESSMENTS.COM, “A Malaysian polyolefins producer has announced offers for June shipment. As compared to last month, the HDPE Film prices increased by $20/ton. For Middle Eastern cargoes, offers for HDPE Film from the leading Saudi polyolefins producer increased by $10/ton on a weekly comparison.”
A Thai polyolefins producer contacted by SSESSMENTS.COM explained, “We adjusted up the offers for HDPE Film to Indonesia market by $20/ton as compared to last week’s level on the back of several supporting factors. First, the uptrend in crude oil and ethylene prices. Second, the better buying sentiment as the Indonesian government plans to ease the large-scale social restriction (PSBB). Since the end of last week, buyers have been starting to place orders, and we have managed to sell HDPE Film at the initial offer level. Delivery time is set in the middle of June. However, some delivery for HDPE Film is delayed between one to two weeks since we have limited supply stemming from the reduced operating rate by 20% and better sales in other regions.”
Regarding Thailand domestic market, a distributor contacted by SSESSMENTS.COM’s team on May 12 informed, “A polyolefins producer in the country has announced promotional HDPE Film prices in order to move out the cargoes as last week, buyers showed stiff resistance and the producer was not able to sell any volume. The latest offers surfaced at THB750/ton ($23/ton) lower than last week’s level. However, to get the promotional prices, buyers have to buy at least 225 tons. If the volume of purchases is lower than 225, the offers remain stable as last week. As of recent, there are no deals have been concluded yet. Most customers are reluctant to procure in a big volume as demand for the end products remains slow. Besides, buyers are anticipating lower prices in the near future.”
“Offers for Thai HDPE Film to Vietnam market increased by $30/ton from last week’s level. The producer did not disclose the major ground of the upward price adjustment. But we opined, the producer decided to increase the prices on the back of the higher crude oil prices and the uptrend in the China market,” said a Vietnamese trader.
