“This week, we only received offers for US HDPE Film via a trader at $920/ton on LC at sight, CIF Indonesia Main Port basis with the shipment from Port Klang, Malaysia. However, we decided not to purchase these cargoes as we had bought Kuwaiti HDPE Film cargoes last week. For next offers, we believe that August shipment offers from Middle Eastern PE producers will be firm, above $900/ton-level,” an Indonesian converter informed SSESSMENTS.COM on July 13.
A local trader in Indonesia contacted on July 14 said, “Compared to last week, August shipment offers for HDPE Film from a Qatari producer increased by $15/ton and as the producer still has backlog orders, the allocation is limited. So far, no feedback yet from buyers for these cargoes as they are still waiting for other offers to come out.”
“Offers for Thai HDPE Film to Indonesia remain stable compared to a fortnight ago and stand at $960/ton on LC at sight, CIF Indonesia Main Port basis,” a global trading house stated.
“In general, PE prices are still firm as of this week. HDPE Film offers from the leading Saudi polyolefins producer to Vietnam moved up by $10/ton compared to last week’s deal level. While for Thai cargoes, we received HDPE Film offers at $935/ton on LC at sight, CIF Vietnam Main Port basis. No price comparison for HDPE Film materials from this origin,” a Vietnamese trader told SSESSMENTS.COM.
Market sources reported on fresh PE offers from a Middle Eastern producer, “A Middle Eastern producer has started offering August shipment offers to the Southeast Asia market. Compared to last week, offers for PE cargoes across all grades increased between $20-30/ton. HDPE Film offers from the producer stand at $950/ton on LC at sight, CIF Main Port basis. However, we think deals at these levels are difficult to achieve as buy ideas from buyers are $30-70/ton lower than the initial offer levels.”
“A Malaysian polyolefins producer has announced August shipment offers to the Philippines market with a significant adjustment. HDPE Film offers increased by $120/ton compared to deals for July shipment,” a Philippines trader reported on July 15.
A Vietnamese converter stated to SSESSMENTS.COM, “Since PE prices are currently on an upward trend, we think most converters will prefer to skip procurements. In terms of pricing, this week, we did not receive HDPE Film offers from a Thai PE producer due to no allocation available from the producer.”
A converter in the Philippines informed, “PE market in the Philippines is rather quiet this week. So far, we only received HDPE Film offers from a Malaysian producer at $100/ton higher on the monthly comparison. We prefer to skip procurements for these cargoes as we still have enough inventory for two or three months of production.”
“We have announced August shipment offers for PE cargoes to the Philippines and Vietnam market with an increment of $100/ton for HDPE Film compared to July shipment. We are unsure whether the current offers at $950/ton on LC at sight, CIF Main Port basis would receive a good response from buyers. Yet, we will collect feedback from buyers first before making any decision for price adjustments to close deals,” a Malaysian polyolefins producer informed SSESSMENTS.COM.
