Comments by market players on LLDPE Film C4 as follows:
On April 6, a local converter in Indonesia commented, “This week, we received firm offers for LLDPE Film C4 from a Saudi producer at $770/ton on LC at sight, CIF Indonesia Main Port basis. We plan to purchase some materials as we are running out stocks. However, we are unsure whether the producer is willing to accept lower prices as their supply is not ample at the moment.”
“The low-end offers for US LLDPE Film C4 to Indonesia decreased by $10/ton compared to a fortnight ago. Likewise, low-end offers for Middle Eastern LLDPE Film C4 declined by $60/ton compared to the same period,” an Indonesian trader informed SSESSMENTS.COM.
A Philippines converter commented to SSESSMENTS.COM on the market condition amid the lockdown. “Our factories have been shut for three weeks now due to the lockdown; hence, we are not really following the market trend. However, we think that even though PE prices broke below $700/ton-level, buyers will not be interested in taking the cargoes as most factories in the Philippines are shut and only essential businesses remain open.”
“We submit bids for import Saudi LLDPE Film C4 cargoes at $10/ton lower than the initial offers at $770/ton on LC at sight, CIF Vietnam Main Port basis. However, the supplier rejected our bids. We think it was due to limited allocation for LLDPE Film C4 at the producer’s end. Considering the current global situation, we believe that PE prices will continue to go down and will reach $700/ton-level despite some rebound in crude oil prices,” a local converter in Vietnam commented.
A Vietnamese trader shared with SSESSMENTS.COM, “All suppliers are attempting higher prices from last week following the upward trend in China. Offers for LLDPE Film C4 from the leading Saudi polyolefins producer moved up by $10/ton compared to last week and deals concluded at the same level to the initial offer at $750/ton on LC at sight, CIF Vietnam Main Port basis.”
“This week, purchasing activity in the Vietnam market is limited. Usually, we managed to move a few hundred tons of materials per day. However, recently we can only move around 10-20 tons of materials per day,” a global trading house commented on April 7.
“We received offers for LLDPE Film C4 of US origin at $750/ton on LC at sight, CIF Penang Port. However, we are not keen to purchase the cargoes as our buy idea for LLDPE Film C4 of any origin is between $650-660/ton on the same payment and delivery term,” a Malaysian converter voiced out to SSESSMENTS.COM.
A Thai converter commented, “Our production rate is cut to below 40% this week due to slow sales amid Coronavirus pandemic. The uptrend in the China market may not quickly affect the Southeast Asia market as pandemic issues in Southeast Asia have yet to resolve. We think the market situation will remain unclear for at least one to two months ahead.”
